Come Join the fun in our 5th Annual Safety Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Leon Police Department puts on an OWI information course for teenagers and adults. This course shows them the difficulties that a person, under the influence of alcohol, will have while driving a vehicle.

In this course they attempt to take control of a golf cart, donated by the Leon Country Club, with a police officer by their side. They have to make their way through a course, trying not to hit and/or knock down any cones. They drive while under the influence of “Fatal Vision Goggles”. These goggles make them feel disoriented and off balance, having a simulated blood-alcohol level above the illegal limit to drive.

This course teaches them the reasons why it is bad to drink and drive. They are also given some information with statistics of what drinking and driving does to you, your family and your friends.

If you have questions call 641-446-7733 and ask for Chief Walker.
